Jam class, pickle class, fun stuff

I taught two jam classes in March at the fabulous Ted & Amy Supper Club in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. We had lots of fun and made interesting flavors -- wild blueberry & mint one night, then strawberry with mint & pink peppercorns the following week. Some of the students wrote really nice reviews--so go check out their great blogs!

My classes aim to be as hands-on and engaged as possible, and everyone gets to squish & stir the fruit, ask questions and, best of all,  eat jam at the end!

The classes sold out early and lots of folks emailed inquiring about more classes. I haven't confirmed dates yet, but there will be more classes throughout the spring & summer.

I'll be doing a jam cooking demo at the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens in June (just writing 'Gardens in June' makes me super excited and swooning for summer), for the event "Homegrown" on Saturday, June 11, Noon–6 p.m. There will be chefs, herb farmers, kimchee making demos, and lots more awesome stuff to encourage you to utilize the bounty of your gardens, farmer's markets or CSA. This will be a SUPER RAD event, and I can't wait!

Stay tuned...... bring your cukes, bring your berries, bring your beans, bring whatever you want soaked in salty-sweet-herbaceous brine: my boyfriend Ben of Brooklyn Grange Rooftop Farm and I will be teaching a pickling class this summer--fun!
