Grapefruit galore
A bunch of restaurants, stores and food makers cooperatively bought grapefruit this week from CeeBee's Citrus, a great farm in Florida. It came in yesterday, and P & H Soda and I filled our walk-in to the brim with these beauties!
Most citrus fruit from the supermarket has been sprayed with wax and other preservatives in order to keep it fresh during shipping. When you use the zest as we do, this can be particularly hazardous and unsavory. CeeBee's doesn't spray or wax them, and they were picked only a few days ago and driven directly up here to us hungry, vitamin C deprived New Yorkers.
